PURPOSE
To improve DCFC players ability to score goals by teaching proper technique and improvisational skills in close distance finishing and long distance ball striking.

TOPICS
Week 1: Finishing balls from close range moving back from goal
• Main focus: One touch finishes with placement and accuracy (primarily inside of foot)
• Secondary focus: teach cut back passes/crosses on the ground, identifying goalkeeper positioning
Week 2: Finishing balls from close range moving toward goal
•. Main focus: Finishing with inside of the foot when dribbling on goal (breakaways)
• Secondary focus: final touch before finish, body shape, different surfaces of finishes
Week 3: Striking balls from distance coming back from goal
• Main focus: Striking ball with laces for power and accuracy on one touch
• Secondary focus: body shape and positioning, identifying goalkeeper positioning
Week 4: Striking balls from distance off the dribble
•. Main focus: Striking the ball with laces for power and accuracy when dribbling/moving toward goal
•. Secondary focus: final prep touch, shooting coming out of a move/trick
Week 5: Finishing out of the air/crosses from close range (heading when age appropriate)
•. Main focus: Finishing with feet from out of the air from close distance
• Secondary focus: Impromptu finishing when can’t get to feet/heading where age appropriate
Week 6: Full and half volleys from distance
• Main focus: Proper technique to keep ball low and on frame
• Secondary focus: Choosing which type of volley to hit, timing for half volleys, aerial tracking
Week 7: Close range finishing and long range striking from turns/back to goal
• Main focus: Choice of finish/strike depending on position of goal, identifying goalkeeper positioning
• Secondary focus: Types of turns, touches out of turns for quicker release
Week 8: Ball manipulation and untraditional finishing
• Main focus: Shaping the ball to score, untraditional efforts to finish (toe pokes, chips, flicks etc.)
• Secondary focus: Being creative in front of goal, improvisation
FORMAT
Stage 1: Warm up (10 min)
Stage 2: Main focus of the day, no pressure (20 min)
Stage 3: Main focus with added pressure (20 min)
Stage 4: Conditioned game to pull out focus of the day (10 min)
GOALKEEPING
Goalkeepers will get supplemental training by splitting the day with Kyle. 7v7 and 9v9 younger keepers (U11) will come to the program for the first hour, then train with Kyle the final 30 minutes. Older 9v9 (U12) and 11v11 goalkeepers will train with Kyle the first hour then get an additional hour with the program.
